Winter Blues? A Happy New Year or is it? - Are you suffering from the winter blues? Christmas can be a positive experience for many of us but it can be a stressful and miserable time too and we can be left feeling weighed down with worries and difficult feelings. Media articles state that Monday 21st January 2008 is the most depressing day of the year. The New Year can signify ringing in the changes and many of us start off with good intentions, making new years' resolutions, but, after struggling to keep them, we often lose our resolve. Making changes to our lives, our relationships and within ourselves can be really difficult without help and support. Counsellors at A Time To Talk understand how frightening it can feel to make changes. Tina Deas says “We can feel powerless and out of control. This in turn adds to our levels of stress and anxiety and we can start to feel overwhelmed, perhaps giving us a sense of hopelessness about the future. If you are feeling confused perhaps it would help to write down the things that are good in your life and the things that are not so good. This will give you a starting point to look to the future.” Annette Moore adds “We can offer you the space to explore your worrying thoughts and feelings and we can help you find ways of making and sustaining the changes that you feel you want to make in your life. Help you to regain some control.” If you think that you need support and would like to talk to someone, please contact A Time To Talk and one of our trained counsellors will be able to help you. Should you feel that any of the above relates to you and would like some professional help please contact us at A Time To Talk Counselling and Support Service based at the Health Hydro in Swindon telephone 07722 023950 e-mail: enquiries@attt.co.uk |
