Bereavement and Loss
When a member of our family dies or we lose someone very precious in one form or another, we experience a loss. Grief is a normal, essential response to loss. When we experience the loss of someone we love either through death or other events such as divorce, separation, children leaving home, we can feel overwhelmed by a range of emotions, thoughts and changes in our behaviour which may leave us feeling isolated and confused.
The pain of grief is every bit as much a part of life as the joy of love and such feelings as anger, despair and depression are part of the normal process of mourning. This process takes time before normal emotional life can be resumed and everyone’s experience will be unique.
At A Time To Talk Counselling and Life Coaching Service, we do not wish to interfere with the natural grieving process and we would encourage you to allow it to take its natural course by drawing on support systems of family and friends. However, sometimes we find it difficult to grieve and we can find ourselves suffering from unresolved grief from our past or from a recent loss. This can leave us feeling anxious, fearful or have an impact on our relationships.
Grief can be complicated and as all of our counsellors are trained bereavement counsellors, they are able to support you during this difficult personal journey towards the acceptance of your loss.
